Ten Indonesian soldiers to face court martials
Two Indonesian army officers and eight privates will face court martials for the
abduction of eight civilians and the murder of six of them in the riot-hit district of Poso
in Central Sulawesi last year.
The head of the Central Sulawesi Military Police Command, Major Wempi Hapan,
says their trials are expected to start by September.
The defendants are accused of abducting eight people from Toyado village in the Tojo
subdistrict of Poso last December.
The eight civilians were taken to a house in Tagolo and detained there, but two of
them escaped.
Five of those left behind were found buried in a shallow grave, while a sixth was found
floating in the Poso river.
