Official Report on Manuputty Case to be Filed to Maluku High
Prosecutor's Office
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta : The official report of Alex Manuputty case will be filed to
the Maluku High Prosecutor's Office, according to Brigadier General Aryanto Supadi,
Director of General Criminals at the National Police.
"We will file the official report this week," Supadi said after meeting with the US
Ambassador at the Mandarin Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/5). He explained this
would be filed to Maluku High Prosecutor's Office because the event happened in
Maluku.
It is the authority of the institution to decide where the case would be tried.
Supadi said he wanted to try Manuputty in Jakarta but the police do not have authority
to decide this.
He went on to explain that a trial is usually held at the location where most of
witnesses live.
And in the case of Alex Manuputty, Chairman of the Moluccan Sovereignty Front
(FKM), 20 witnesses live in Maluku.
However, Supadi has said that Maluku is not secure enough.
"We will try to hold the trial here [in Jakarta]," he said. (Retno Sulistyowati-Tempo
