Once upon a time, in a dark, dingy, smokey land not too far away, a band
named DIGBY was born. Now at the very mature age of five, DIGBY have:
*Independantly released a CD, a single and a filmclip
*Set up their own recording studio
*Gained radio play on JJJ, 3PBS and 3RRR (three major radio stations in Australia), plus community radio support
*Amassed close to forty songs
*Been selected in the Top 100 songs in Channel V's "Leg Up" competition
*Won 'Most Popular New Artist' in the Hard Rock Cafe Breeding Ground competition
*Created DIGBY merchandising, including t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc.
*Played throughout major live venues in Victoria, Australia
*Gained a respectable following throughout Melbourne
*Done the obligatory internally combusting drummer thing
... and all this while breaking a G-string nearly every week.
Presented with a website as a prize, the www.digbyon.com website became a portal
from which innocent web by-sitters have stumbled across the young DIGBY. With
requests for DIGBY products from Tokyo, the Ukraine, America, Canada and
Venezuela, they truly consider themselves on the verge of breaking through the
translucent paper wall of international insignificance.
The main limbs in DIGBY's anatomy are Dan, Jamie, Matt and Glenn. These four
brave music soldiers are out there battling the elements in pubs everywhere.
Beer spitting, heckling, mosh pits, drunken spa boogiers and grumpy door
security are just a few of the nasties they have to contend with. But more often
than not, they are greeted with confused and smiling faces - the reward of a
good nights work.
DIGBY is a funny character. Its music influences are diverse, making for
potentially interesting listening. Subliminally annoying, many of the DIGBY
sounds find themselves in many a brain rotation the day after a show (or so
DIGBY has heard).
DIGBY's first release ('ON') was released in 2001, and with it came DIGBY's
first opportunity to leave its mark on the unsuspecting public in the privacy of
their own homes. DIGBY is now releasing an independant three track single
("Someone Else", complete with filmclip) as a sample of the upcoming CD in 2003.
With its aims set high (but not high enough to get too dizzy) maybe one day
DIGBY can visit Sergey in the Ukraine and deliver a tshirt after all... because
thats the kind of band DIGBY is.
