Bio: Local Hero are a four-piece band, based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
The band's original material has been described as 'alternative pop-rock', andmixes catchy, riff filled tunes, with interesting and powerful lyrics.
Currently, Local Hero are in the process of getting together original material
for a debut CD, as well as honing their skills as musicians and playing as many
live shows as they can get their hands on, which is what the band really lives
for.
The band was officially formed in early 2000, but the members had been playing
together for quite some time before. Vocalist/guitarist, Liam Domanski had been
a member of previously successful band “Gash”, who won several "Battle of the
Bands" competitions. The members of Gash had a falling out, and Liam was
looking to continue his career in music. Seening the talent of his neighbours,
brothers, Simon (guitar/vocals), Chris (bass) and Mark Borg (drums
/percussion), so the foursome began playing together.
Since formed, Local Hero have won the Ringwood "Battle of the Bands" competition, were state finalists in the Hard Rock Cafe's "Future Rock" national
battle of the bands competition, recorded many original songs, played a huge
amount of live gigs, and built up a large fan base. Playing covers of various
styles has taught the members a lot about music and how to write their own. The
original music scene is where the band is aiming for in the future, as they feel
it is the most exciting and area of the music industry.
The members of Local Hero enjoy playing for live audiences immensely. They love
seeing people having a great time, and also have a great time themselves.
The band has recently signed on Stuart "Chet" Fraser (Noiseworks/John Farnham
Band), who will be producing their upcoming EP. The band have been hard at work
with him, laying down new songs with hopes of getting some radio airplay of
their material, and taking their music to the world.
