Bio:
Formed in June 2001, “Seeds of Babylon” are a 5 piece ska/reggae/rock band who
have their own unique sound. The combination of two guitars, drums, bass and 4
vocalists, come together to form a sound that many people find impossible not to
dance to. They concentrate entirely on writing songs that will appeal to
audiences of all sorts, with a huge emphasis on melody, harmony and a hint of
humour. Crowds will rarely leave a show disappointed due to the high-energy
input of the members and their desire to entertain and have fun.
In the two years that “The Seeds” have been playing they have developed a
healthy legion of fans across Australia and Brazil, especially in their hometown
of Adelaide. What sets the Seeds apart from other bands is their ability to
cover a wide range of musical genres in their song writing. As a result they
have achieved popularity amongst a wide range of age groups and appealed to
numerous people of differing musical tastes.
Since entering the music scene “Seeds of Babylon” have performed over 100 live
shows around Australia and sold out all 500 copies of their debut self titled
EP. Following the success of this first release Seeds of Babylon recorded a
13-track album at Industry Studios in Adelaide. On June 28th 2003 the album
titled “And Other Strange Sights” was launched to a crowd of over 500 people,
one of the biggest local shows Adelaide has seen over the past decade. This
release received the acclaim of ‘album of the week’ on local radio station 3D FM
and achieved airplay on a large Brazilian radio station as well as triple J’s
‘Home and Hosed’. At present, the album is currently selling well in record
stores around Adelaide.
