This band definitely has something. Exciting stuff.” This statement from
Melbourne promoter Neil Wedd sums up Sojourn and their explosive live show. Only
just out of high school and settled in Melbourne after a committed move from
Tassie, these guys have been stamping their mark at venues such as The Espy,
Revolver, the Duke of Windsor, and Laundry, just to name a few. With a warm
reception from punters and bookers alike, the future for Sojourn continues to
look brighter.
To date, this 4 year running band has played with the likes of Grinspoon, 28
Days, the Cosmic Psychos, You Am I and Pacifier. Credits also include a spot at
the 2001 Pacific Circle Music Expo (Fox Studios, NSW) and a live set for Triple
J’s Oz Music Show. Sojourn recorded the set after being invited by live music
producer Chris Thompson who witnessed a stunning performance by Sojourn in their
original home of Launceston. Such shows earned them an Australian Live Music
Award in 2001 (under previous name, ‘porcelain’).
The music itself is reflective of their youth and enthusiasm for pure rock
energy, but at the same time hints at the maturity of artists like Bright Eyes
and Radiohead. Hopefully, Sojourn will be playing at a venue near you very soon,
so keep your eyes pealed.
