Bio
uNstaBle
rAy are an original four piece Melbourne band. They consist of Megan Osmond on
vocals with hands in back pockets, John Weate on guitar with toegazing
intensity, John Dickens on bass guitar with eye contact avoidance, and Clint
Brearley on Drums with bad joke cracking.
uNstaBle
rAy formed in the winter of 2003. Its genesis was in the cool acoustic sounds of
“The John & Megan Experience”. uNstaBle rAy's sound ranges from
beautiful, and ethereal ballads, through to funk-ladden toetappers, to dark,
ominous and haunting rock epics. Megan
Osmond has performed around Melbourne as a member of various acoustic duos. She
now enjoys the chance to unleash her incredible vocal talents and introspective
lyrics fronting a rock band. In her spare time, Megan is completing a PhD and
will soon be known as Dr Meg. Classically
trained, John Weate supplies the tunes for Megan’s verbal odysseys. When he
isn’t reaching for sonic nirvana from his trusty Stratocaster, he teaches
catholic girls English, Maths and Geography. Prior to this auspicious career, he
was the front man for iconic early nineties band “Blind Lemons” before
becoming axe merchant extraordinaire for “33 Piece Suit”. John
Dickens used to play bass for legendary underground hard rock melodians, “Die
Smiling”. He has also performed with “Asunder” and “The Speeding Camels”.
Somehow he holds down a day job as an audiovisual technician. Clint
Brearley used to smash skins for the well renowned surfer punk band “Bruiser”.
Based in Geelong, he graced the beer sodden stage of the “Offshore Festival”.
At various other times, he has supported “Regurgitator” and “Powderfinger”.
When not laying down the solid, funking grooves for uNstaBle rAy, Clint is
working in a lab unravelling the mysteries of Science.
