Chapter #4

In the morning, it was even more beautiful than it was at night.

The rays of the sun shone down with such pureness, such radiance; it was as if we were the first people ever to set foot in this place. We knew we were not ? there were prints in the fresh mud; possibly not more than a few hours old. And even though we couldn?t figure out what they belonged to, it could be dangerous. We had to move on.

We entered a beautiful valley, and there we saw our first native creatures. A graceful unicorn who was prancing about in the warm sunlight which illuminated the clearing and unisis- a unicorn with wings- who was nibbling the dewy grass and reshuffling its wings to a more comfortable position. Also a very small green Dragon~Fly with delicate butterfly wings was flitting about from flower to flower like a humming bird, and a sphinx who walked right up to us.

"One would not care to seem inhospitable, but we have not seen your kind here before, what are you?" She said.

Ebon spoke for us, "We are a race not found here, we are Cali. You would not know of us, as we do not usually come here."

The other creatures had all witnessed the conversation by now, and the unicorn and unisis had come over to investigate. The tiny Dragon~Fly, however, was still almost completely ignoring us, completely that is, until he heard the word ?Cali?. At which point, he zoomed all the way across the field to hover and zoom over Jazmin, who was still in my arms. Jazmin looked up with curiosity, and even managed to squeak a few words in the Dragon-fly?s own language, to which it trilled with excitement and did a few loops and twirls through the air around Jazmin.

"One wonders why you are here." The sphinx commented thoughtfully, glancing over at the dragon-fly?s antics.

"The one with whom your little friend has so much interest is ill. We seek medical help for her." Ebon said.

Now that Jazmin was back in her native surroundings, she was a little better, not completely cured, but getting there. Only one person could cure her completely. The only problem was, no one knew who that was, or how to find him (or her for that matter).

The sphinx offered to take us to someone who might know who could help, and lead us out of the valley. As we traveled, the sphinx told us about who we were going to visit.

"Have you ever heard of the Siamese Griffin Twins?" she asked Ebon. After he had answered negatively, she went on "They are the keepers of knowledge here. The ones who live here go to them with their problems, and they try their best to help."

We came upon a picturesque lake. Beautifully blue and clear. All around it there were tall birch trees mingled with the overall pine forest, and weeping willows hanging over the water. It looked as if the birch trees were just beginning to turn color, and they offset the dark green of the evergreen forest with their yellow, orange and red vibrantly colored leaves elegantly. On one end of the lake it got kind of marshy and was crowded with cattails and reeds. On the other, a small creek waterfalled down from a low, rocky hill where it began. The overall effect was dazzling.

Jazmin cooed and laid her head on my arm.

"They live here, in this vale." The sphinx informed us "We will have some difficulty finding them however, they will not be expecting us."

A sound came from the marshy side, and two identical griffins came out of the reeds. "You should know better than that," they said in unison "we know all that goes on in our valley." They drifted towards us using that bounding stride that all griffins seem to find irresistible. As the sphinx had said, they were Siamese griffins (Siamese cats with the wings of eagles). As it turned out, the twins were smaller than Kitha and Growlaf, who were still only cubs.

Well, that's all I have Written at the moment, though you can come back later to see if I've added anything.
