The next day, you wake to warm sunlight streaming in through the windows in the guest room, and pleasant singing in the next room. The strange thing about it, you notice as you wake up a little more, is that it seemed to be a duet, one crystal clear voice, and one crystalline ringing accompanying it. You smile at the tune, Unyko must be singing with the glass dragonet, Chaisa. You blink, surprising yourself at how fast you accept the ridiculous. How could a glass figurine be alive, much less sing? The singing stops, and a polite knock interrupts your thoughts and Unyko opens the door, the ever-present smile beaming at you “You ready for breakfast?” you nod and she grins “C’mon then!” and opens the door wider. You follow her back to the main room and notice that a table is now by the fireplace, and the comfy chairs are at the other side of the room. The happy crackling fire still lights up the fireplace, and a breakfast was set on the table before it. Only one breakfast, you note, Unyko must’ve eaten already. Either that, or she didn’t need to eat, which you doubted. At your quizzical look, Unyko smiles gently “I already ate. Have a seat, I’ll be right back. There’re some things I have to take care of before you start out today.” And before you could say anything, she disappears in a small puff of vapor. You blink, yet another surprise. You are seated and had started your breakfast when the door opens and a new, dog sized creature strides in. |

You watch it cautiously as it advances to your seat at the table, then stops and looks up at you with bandaged eyes. ~Oh stop that, I’m not going to hurt you.~ you stare at the creature ~Yes,~ it nods ~That was me. And yes, I can sense your thoughts. Don’t be afraid. I just came to prepare you for the shocks you will likely experience in the next couple of days.~ you cock your head, what shocks? The creature smiles slightly ~She forgot to tell you? Yes, I rather thought so. Unyko’s a good person, but she’s rather forgetful.~ you wonder who, and what in the world this creature was, and how he knew so much about the girl (or whatever she is) that took you in for the night. The creature cocks it’s head ~She didn’t even tell you about me?~ a mental laugh (interesting to experience for the first time) ~I am Scortchprophecy, the local Kartyn’dyryso seer, and Unyko’s Companion.~ he nods. Strangely, you understand what he’s talking about. You sort of get the idea when he ‘says’ the words; a Kartyn’dyryso was the name of his species, meaning Earth Dancers in a language called Sharian, and Companion carried the meaning of a caretaker and constant friend. Seer was a more elusive term, it meant collectively, telepath, prophet, and some magical meanings strewn about liberally. You blink in surprise and Scortchprophecy laughs ~Just one of the surprises you'll encounter in U'Lliyani.~ That last word.. U'Lliyani... it 'sounded' like a foreign language, but you understood it, again somehow through 'Prophecy's mind speaking. It meant The Realm... The Realm? What Realm? A mental sigh ~O dear...~ he seems exasperated, but with Unyko, not you. He begins slowly ~The Realm is where we are now.. it is this planet that was created for the purpose of housing creatures that had no where else to go. We have our own varriety of inhabitants and language of course, and once in a while one of ours decides to move to a new realm. But our main purpose is to provide a home. We have plenty of room; there are new arrivals comming almost every day, and still we have empty meadows and forests, lakes and oceans, just waiting for some one and smething to fill them.~ he cocks his head, sending the intricate earings and featheres jingling. ~That is good enough for now. You will discover more in the course of your journey.~ a nod, and he turns towards the door as if awaiting an arrival. You wonder for a moment, but then, suddenly, Unyko's back in another pouf. She looks at you, and down at 'Prophecy, and her face clouds with aprehension and realization. It must be the first time you hadn't seen a smile on her face, and it looks strange there. 'Prophecy looks up at her, sits and cocks his head again. A small smile appears on Uny's lips, and Proph's tongue lolls out in a canine laugh. Unyko sighs, but the grin reappears. Much better. "I see 'Prophecy's been filling you in about what we're gonna b doing today, has he?" you nod and she laughs "Well, I guess we'd better get started then." she stands moves towards the door "C'mon, the first stop's just over there..." She points to a portal like the one you used to get here. She shifts to her much smaller Uni'Dragon~Fly form, the one she had shifted to the night before, and hovers in the doorway, waiting for you. You rise and join her as soon as you finished your breakfast, and she leads you to a small portal "I can guide you at first, but a few of the inhabitants need special care during most of the day, so…" she flutters over to the portal and waits for you to follow. You approach cautiously, uncertain of this strange mode of transportation "Well? Go ahead, it wont hurt." She smiles as you hesitantly reach out a finger to touch the swirling blue portal… |
