Using the Mining Skill
To
use the mining skill, get a pickaxe or shovel and goto a cliffside. A common
place that miners go is the mining area
west of Britain inside the
town guard area. There is a small forge near cliff there where you can
smelt the ore you mine.
To mine ore, simply double-click
on the pickaxe or shovel in your inventory. A target cursor will appear.
Now click on a
cliffside to mine ore. The
ore you mine depends on the level of your mining skill and where on the
cliff you are mining.
The greater the rarity the
ore, the harder it is to mine, smelt, and craft things out of it. Just
be sure to keep an eye on your
weight when mining ore. Have
a packhorse or two handy if you have this problem. They can carry 800 of
the tiny chunk
version ore. To convert larger
chunks of ore into little ore, double click either of the two piles and
then target the other one.
Smelting ore
To
smelt ore into ingots, walk up to a forge and double clikc on the ore you
want to smelt, then target the forge. If you
are successful, the ore will
turn into a pile of ingots in your backpack. The following table shows
the order from the most
common to the rarest ore in
Britannia.
Tips to GM mining
When
you reach about 80 mining, run along the mountain mining ore until you
find gold, apagite, or varite (not until higher
skill levels). Remember where
these spots are and during you PH, mine directly from these spots. Convert
all your stacks of
large ore into small versions.
If you smelt enough ore for 1 ingot at a time of gold, apagite, or varite
ore, you will get mining
gains because smelting ore
calculates your mining skill. Use the following chart to help you see the
different versions of ore.
Type of Ore | Iron | Dull Copper | Shadow | Copper | Bronze | Golden | Apagite | Varite | Valorite |
Relative Rarity | Very common | 8 times as common as Valorite | 7 times as common as Valorite | 6 times as common as Valorite | 5 times as common as Valorite | 4 times as common as Valorite | 3 times as common as Valorite | 2 times as common as Valorite | Rarest of all ore |
Color | Silver | Grey | Black | Tan | Brown | Gold | Pink | Green | Blue |
