Every Time
@Uootem
Every time I see you
in a happenstance moment like this. Something inside me hurts,
because of something inside you I miss. I look at you and yesterday
and all the things once shared. And all the things we lost
when suddenly you no longer cared. The dreams created as that long ago boy kissed her. The promises made with an embrace and whisper. Forever and a day we said,
and meant every word. Could you ever say you still love me,
the sweetest phrase ever heard. Then speak what I long to hear,
"Can't we start again?" Then we could have real love,
like when it all began.
Perhaps if I could realize
that "we" could never be one. That all those hopes and dreams from yesterday are gone. And no matter how hard I try,
they cannot be recreated. Perhaps then this weary heart would be sated. Time took you from me and stole from us true love. That cannot be replaced without intervention from above. But the love I still feel
won't let me admit these things. Won't let me face the truth
and keeps alive my ponderings.
The love lost hurt and emptiness of pain
through the years live on. Of yesterday and the things of our love
now long since gone. This shattered heart is drowning
in its unending sorrow. If only memories would let me go.
I would start to live tomorrow. I loved you then... and
if you returned I would certainly again love you. I will rise someday from the ashes of my love for you
that forever will remain true.
