Rejoicing inspires my heart
With the memories of each now celebrated moment shared
The times that once reached into my soul
And had me feeling like I was walking on air.
In another time and place I experienced
Your fingertips electric, your kiss so precocious
Your arms caressing me with love's embrace
The touch that made me yearn for more
An abandon that has always dwelt inside me
To this day never ceasing to astonish
The cherished way you laughed in whispers
Telling me that your love was real.
And this love you brought into my life
Makes me dislike the present.
In moments of matching your sweet lips to mine
Not in this time of no end tasted
And of every emotion felt in this lifetime
Of everything seen, of everything known
Of all the things you gave so unreservedly
This I must make so... in dreams for now.
To live so far away from you in time
Missing your eyes looking back to mine
Without a chance to see, but rarely
And without your arms embracing me tenderly
no chance to feel security and comfort
I wish that I could show you
The emotions that are authentic
To speak of days filled with dreaming and hopes
Without stumbling at words to be spoken
Nothing that I say to you this day
Could make you understand
Why love still consumes me
For I don't think I can explain.
So silently now I write
trying to make sense of what I feel.
With this poem, I ask one thing of you
Please to me reveal something
If you can at all, in any way
Show me that you feel it too
Our long ago love and
Tell me of the burning it has created.
Until you do, I can only wonder
As I remember you so affectionately
Could you do feel the way I do.
