Long Stem Roses

@uootem

Today, I am sending you long stem roses
In a crystal vase with a small little card
On which signing my name has proved a little too hard
Because of all the revealing of confessions it poses.

But send them, take the risk, for me a must
I sign then with "uootem", (will you figure out who)
And expose me as someone who still needs you
But will you know it is love and not just lust?

You once had to force me to admit how much I cared
In response to your "I love you"s, all I could give is "Me too you" or worse
But now the tables turned, and it is me who now needs the words once shared
So I took the "Me too you" and made it "u oot eM"  in reverse.

When I dream these days, it is all about you
And red long stem roses seem so necessary
So send them I do, and will not further tarry
To me giving them is so long over due.

I hope you dwell for a moment in their scent
And recall for a second the words we shared
When in our hearts we both knew we cared
And somehow understand what our time has meant.

Long stem roses, for the love of my soul
Perhaps open now in full bloom, as you place them on a table
And perhaps think of me and you, if you are able
... stirring memories in you is my ultimate goal.
