My heart pounds
          with a quickened beat,
                      when I see you glance
                              across the distance at me.
                        Sometimes indoors,
                    sometimes out,
                sometimes walking,
            sometimes driving by.

In these moments
          our chance encounters,
                        no matter how brief,
                                I can immediately feel
                                                  that long ago rush of emotion,
                        and I think about
                                  all the love once shared,
                                                for this moment you are near.
But in a instant
              you are gone again...
                        Back into that world
                                        you have made without me.
                                                and I realize
                          you won't be loving me.

So I grab another blank page
                and describe the feelings
                                  of being alone again.
                                            Wondering
                          if you'll join me
                                    in this forever dream someday.
                                                                Or will this be
                                              more like never.
I just wish
        you felt the same
                  that you also ache
                                because we are apart
                                            and could never let
                            our memory go.
I wait for you
          to return into my life.
                      So I can talk with you awhile...
                                                we could fall in love again
                                      I just know it.
I fall fast asleep
          dreaming of the love
                                      lost to me.
