"There you were"

@Uootem

I was about completing some errands
Shopping for last minute things for a holiday bash.
I wasn't even looking... for you that day
And there you were... a vision so rare.

I couldn't help but smile at your timid nature.
The way you stood in front of me
in jeans and sweater... appropriate attire for the market
While most people were busy gathering items from the shelves.

I never really thought I would see you again.
We are in two different worlds now you see.
And you are now just like the others.
Casual acquaintances... friends that rarely stay in touch.
But in my thoughts you are much more than that.

I was busy fulfilling my list... not really noticing those around me.
But something about your presence made me suddenly
Untie the blindfold from my eyes.

The more I remember about you,
I more I understand what people are talking about
When they use the phrase unending love.
Not the whimsical, childish love I knew before,
But a love so altogether wonderful
That it makes me reevaluate what love really is
As you continue to define it.

Love seemed so silly to me before I met you.
It was a word young lovers use to describe
Satisfactory attachment.
But you have made it so much more.
The word almost isn't enough to describe itself.

I worry sometimes that I must be insane.
I will scrap my knees hard if I ever crash to reality again
Only to open old wounds.

But the more I see of you I realize
My scars have faded... time heals as they say
You make me forget everything I used to believe
You have shown me love, you taught me love
You are love... though lost for all these years
I love you,  even though I can't say the words anymore
for fear of being exposed as the fool
the fool I am for you.
