time takes flight with wings of memory
across the myriad of seasons since
unraveling ne'er forgotten secrets and
mystic pleasures of adolescent love
from times of ancient lands and time-
i do not know why it had to be
that for decades these priceless relics
would lay unnoticed in her heart ... would lay untouched in his,
but am fully aware that there was great reason in such
that somewhere a great force of hope was protecting them
and waiting for the right time for them to be revealed afresh
a time when perhaps the moon hung just right in the heavens
or a time when we were ready to possess
the great emotion that had been stored away for so long
and just as nature has a way of knowing when the time is right
every lost lover also has within a secret
a sacred part of them that they keep tucked away
that they are the sole guardian and protector of...
and only on rare occasions and when the destiny permits
then that hidden chest that only they have the key to
gets opened and revealed for the world to see
and today, while the sun shines brightly in the sky
and the wind gently glides over the horizon
as I look out over the peaceful landscape below
I unmask what lies inside the deepest recesses of my heart
for you to see... for you to know
for you to read in these lines
for on this day, it might not be a secret which I unveil
but to you I bestow the music of my soul
and give to you that which I treasure most dear
all of my heart, my love, and my key...
because you are the one I'd give eternity to hold...
for you are the one that I love...
