"... wearing new shoes"

@Uootem

Distant-past lovers, in their blue jeans and tennis shoes
Almost forgotten old friends now, wearing new shoes
Many changing seasons of time traveled;
Through the adulthood lands of life and
Never-to-be-more lost love of youth.

-And then, unexpectedly, a glance of felicitation,
The familiar gleam of what was never really forgotten...
Hand-in-hand tourists upon the dawn of today
Should we take a chance to find again the memories
And speak the language of love in too-silent eyes?

The once shared secrets summon to the horizon
The edge of a time-distant recollection,
Where the winds of change and the cruel rocks of reality collide
Where the drummers of two different hearts
Keep rhythm as one, in a memorized love song.

An inviting embrace quietly warms the soul
As intimate as our breathing... mutual whispers of comfort
Can we understand the depths of an unending sigh?
Can a love so ancient still count the days
And remember the passions of ages gone by?

Can lost love be so courageous -a love once known
In extended arms - to demolish the wall built between us?
Can our new shoes protect us from jagged stones
Now strewn along the pathway we walk?
Will our passions suddenly be freed to become "naked" in the rubble?

Once-upon-a-time lovers, in new shoes are we
and the yearning in my eyes is ever the same
-each step I take, another fairytale plot unfolds
another day of anticipation in a story still untold...
of a love so unfaltering... a love that knows no end...
our lost love... found again.
