Just as the crosswinds of life displaces
          colorful fallen leaves in autumn,
                    the moments of time once shared
                                      become perambulations in our memory.
Circumstances and other important things of our lives
          do continue their inherent changing
                    and relationships so dear to the heart often die in the process.
Learning from my losses... especially the loss of your love,
          I continue to grow... for I too must change.
Now forced into facing the truth by a touch of reality,
          I attempt once again to let go of this longing for you.
For I know that I am living without the love you once shared,
          And should seek relief from the loneliness now.
I must convince my heart... what my head already knows,
          That things can never be the same as they once were.
But the pain remains, my soul calls to you... with no reply tears fall forth.
Now moving on... at last,
          For all it's worth... with all the strength I can muster
I must recover from losing you my lover,
          Your heart has changed... as hearts often do,
                    And from that I must learn...

But then again I realize how much love I gave
            and how much I gained in return.
So if things must change,
            And if that is an absolute fact... some sort of cosmic law
I must keep asking... my latest contemplation
            If I keep the memories alive... and wait more patiently
                            Could your heart change again
                                        and our destinies bring you back?
