Could we still secretly
            long for what we once shared,
                                both of us wanting the love of the other...
somehow
      still remembering what was lost
                          but can't or
              won't do anything about it?
I silently scream
          for your attention,
                as I casually say hello
      and you smile in agreement,
                    and ask how i've been...
            are you screaming too?
you play it so cool
          but inside are you yearning as I
                                or am I just an old fool?
I yearn for your loving looks,
        your warming smiles,
                and tender touch.
You play hard to get
          but could you really want
                      to be caught
            or am I only fantasizing again?
Could it be that
          we both feel
                we can't let our guard down,
                            because we are loved by another
          and a family we have created.
We don't want
        to hurt the ones that love us
                          but what could we do
        if we share this burning desire?
It's not right
        for us to keep it inside,
                        to steal glances
          as each other walks by.
We should be together
                forever
                    but instead
        we will have to continue to lie.
Lie to others,
        lie to ourselves,
                  lie to the whole world,
    because no one knows
              and no one will.
