A rainbow always follows the mid-day rain
as beautiful as it may be... it is only an illusion
just sunlight being deviated by a water drop prism
and the promised pot of gold is just a myth... isn't it?

The desert mirage is seen from afar
as beautiful as it may be... it is only an illusion
just sunlight being reflection off the arid sands
and the promised refreshment is just a myth... isn't it?

A fairytale we wholeheartedly believed as a child
as beautiful as it may be... it is only an illusion
just childhood imagination creating such fantasy
and the promised happily-ever-after is just a myth... isn't it?

There is only one first love in a life time
as beautiful as it may be... it is only an illusion
just two young hearts exploring emotions so new
and the promised forever is just a myth... isn't it?

If I could find a way to win you back again,
There would be no gray skies for me... rainbows would be real.
This thirst I have for love would be sated... the desert oasis I would find.
I would start believing in happy endings again... the ever-after kind.
and the promises we once made... we would once again feel.

There comes a time when we must go on
Makes no difference what the price may be
I'll go on alone... with my memories and poems to comfort me
I know that its true... I can never love again the way that I loved you.

I'd trade all my tomorrows... and all my faith in myths
