I write here with an undisguised heart
hoping you take a second and
read between these lines
so that you will understand for just a moment
the past is no longer close at hand
sufficient time has elapsed
and today is closer still
as I continue my search for the right words to say
but tomorrow is just a heartbeat away
there is still a chance for a heart to soften
to look back and remember
that 'lovers' is how it all started
and through the years, between us
'lovers' is what we are and should be
which is why...
I write here with an undisguised heart
words make me so vulnerable
taking a chance on reaching out to you,
hoping not everything has changed
for I still believe in true love and
that is what I believe we shared and
how true love can change your life
it can make your heart skip a beat,
give you reason to believe in fairytale endings
make you think so many resplendent thoughts
and through the years as they count their moments...
the past, this present, a future
'lovers' is how we began
and how we can be again
if you read between these lines
and take a chance on something
we both know is still there.
