By soft moonlight... and in the full sun of the day
I once found the magic of your loving eyes.
the vision immediately captured my soul
and warmed my heart as I smiled in returning gaze.
The gentle light of a star-filled night and
the fire of the sun in a crystal blue sky
brought to life in every perfect aspect of your eyes,
as I traced my hand along your smooth face
to gently touch each eyelid with my fingers.

Even now, after so much time has passed,
I am overcome when my eyes meet yours.
I try to compare them to worldly pleasures, but cannot.
Only the likeness of such things as heaven
could ever explain such wonders as I see in them.
To say that you have pretty eyes
says nothing of them at all... for they are so much more than that.
Your eyes tell my life's story, a love sonnet, a love lost tragedy,
sounding melodies of a springtime song bird,
showing emotions indescribable by words,
and revealing all my secrets and desires in their reflection.
In them, I found love, compassion, tenderness,
kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, and all my dreams.
In them, I still find a yearning for love, a tenderness of days passed.
Of these things I cannot get enough... I need them to truly live.
So, I ask that you allow me to set my eyes upon yours
and gaze into your soul, for my heart is empty
without such pleasures as I find in your eyes.

I have often marveled at your breathtaking beauty,
noticing the detailed artwork in every little part of you.
I respect the blessing of your crafted beauty
that no artist could ever sculpt... no poet adequately describe,
for your every agreeably proportioned curve
moves with such elegant gracefulness that leaves me in awe.
But your eyes, so neatly framed by your silken hair,
are above the perfection of all else, for
they always stir me to fill them with unspoken whispers.
