"Our Fairytale"

@Uootem

Once upon a time our storybook tale began….
long before you were a woman... me a man
the moonlight on the serene lake in its dance
gave our love just a solitary chance
and our fairytale of love began.

I did not ride up to you on splendid white steed
you were not a damsel in mortal need
you were not the victim of a wicked witch's crime
but I first kissed you there, once upon a time.
when our fairytale of love began.

We did not initially meet at a royal ball
Still it did not take long for me to fall
Your carriage did not become a pumpkin at midnight
You did not loose a slipper in a panicked flight
but our fairytale of love began.

You did not call to me from a lofty tower
As fierce dragons breathed their fire
But you kissed me, as lovers in such tales do:
When one is dead, a kiss awakes and dreams come true.
as our fairytale of love began.

Perhaps this is why happily ever after did not materialize
So I'll wait here for you, with ever yearning eyes
Searching through the midst of misty wishes and dreams.
Hoping you will be heard from again... though futile it seems.
for our fairytale of love has had no end.
