i remember a time when...
i could feel your heart beating in unison with mine
i could gaze at you lovingly in awe of the perfect beauty
and you made your mark on me with the seal of your kiss
to show the world that i was yours and you were mine.

i remember a time when...
you loved me with all the passion and tenderness that is you
you made me feel that every breath i took mattered for more than life
and i wanted to embrace you forever in my arms and
for your body to melt into mine forming 'us'... two become one.

i remember a time when...
i showed you my true self from the inside out
i trusted you without any of the usual necessary defenses
and there i still remain with a heart so unreservedly vulnerable
yet i am no longer afraid of worldly things... such as time.

i remember a time when...
i had you and you had me and we shared what we were
when rain trickled on my face i didn't feel a need to run for cover
i stayed in the open because it's touch was pure and gentle like you
the darkness brought no harm because it's stillness carried me to you.

in remembering that time, so long ago...
i can close my eyes and find you there in the depths of myself
it feels so warm when anything about everything means something
more than you... every second spent with you... knowing you
is worth more to me than anything in the world.
