You Realize

It's hard to forget
            first true love.
So much time spent
                    just trying to forget.
and still
      the forgetting is too difficult
The ache is
          so much to bear...
but somehow
            you just don't care.

You continue to remember everything
            and you miss everything about her:
                              you miss her voice and breath
                                                  you miss her gentle touch and embrace
                                                                    you miss her calling your name
                                                                                        you miss her beauty that you can still see
                                                  you miss the love the two of you shared
            you miss the knowing that she cared.

As time passes by,
            you see not the difference.
You can still recall the past
                            with such vivid color.
And you realize
          forever in your heart
                                she will stay.
