if I could write a poem
it would be a rhyme of love and love lost
each verse would be for you
and each phrase would be about you
for you are all that this poet in me can think of.
if I could write poetry and then read it out loud
then the world could see the light
the light that shone in your eyes
from the love you have given me
that I still yearn for each night.
Without the light all is darkness
night after lonely night... no stars or moon
but in the lines of a poem I can finally see
the light that still shines so brightly
that my night turns into day
for this is what happens when
there are words to write that I can not say.
If there was just one thing
That I could write in a poem tonight
I wish that it would be the words
that would surely hold your emotions tight.
that would help you remember what we had.
No matter what I write in a poem
I've learned without a doubt
words can be somewhat elusive
if the emotion does not start from inside out
For my poet writes of what's inside of me
This love that's in my heart...
If I could turn back time to an earlier day
And rewrite every poem I have ever written
I would not change even a single word or phrase
For my heart would still not have changed
and you would still be the poets favorite subject
Love found, love experienced,... and yes, love lost.
