a shooting star (in night-drenched sky)

@Uootem

a shooting star... in night-drenched sky
upon which I cast my wish... futile though it seems
for the star will melt in the friction of thin air soon enough.
I sense a cold tear forming in a corner of my eye...
for I know this talisman for wishing will not fulfill my dreams.

Unexpected this new feeling, coming by complete surprise.
the longings of my soul strike a balance with emotions deep,
reality is not seen, when memories blindfold my eyes...
memories of a lost love I had always wanted to keep.

I only know what I once could believe, I know our passion,
loving moments that were gentle and thought forever true,
awakened desire, a new temptation, mutual satisfaction
foster sweetened memories of how I fell in love with you.

This is how I remember the days of our long ago youth,
that disappeared like the invisible wind, felt with time
when loving ways were our only known truth,
leaving a lovely memory, the source of this rhyme.

As a tear finally traverses my cheek, the weeping will cease,
I know my thoughts are destined for a quiet inner peace.
And I can cherish the recollection of you from our past,
For now it is only a mere epitaph of a love that did not last.

A sky that was vividly painted deep blue finds twinkling lights now,
the streak created by the shooting star contains the mystery of you.
upon which I still cast my wish... futile to seek such a vow
for the star has melted in the friction of thin air and escaped my view.
