"Just Another Summer's Day"

@Uootem

Just another summer's day,
a little past noon...
lunchtime feast of daydreaming
The sun's glitter cooled by the shade tree above me
Through the branches, I see clouds so white and so delicate;
lazyingly strolling across the bluest stage;
painting horses, butterflies and other childhood shapes;
I just wanted to soar up and touch them.

People passing so hurriedly...
on their way to the rest of their lives,
but somehow obscure to me...
for my life seems to revolve around dreams.
I guess it was because I find hope in day dreaming;
when a always familiar love song rings in my ears,
the melody heard a thousand times before;
and inspire such ancient words I find now filling my hand,
once again escaping through the pen I hold.

She casually walked over to me,
her presence at once opened my eyes,
I saw the most striking eyes,
inviting my heart to melt...
as it has done so many times before.
Eyes of innocence, but evoking all worldly desires.
The smile that she brought to my face betrayed me.
Without even saying a word she made me feel warm inside.
she brought back all the feelings I have learned to suppress,
although sometimes most unsuccessfully.
Did she notice the effect she has on me,
I could not be sure.

As time went by, the sun moved on is daily route.
Its heat warming us...
her voice warming my heart.
I looked at her,
trying to pretend there was only friendship,
knowing as she looked at me,
friendship was all she saw.
She reached for my hand,
beckoning me to walk with her.
Could she know what that touch could do?
As a friend she held my hand...
casually as friends often do,
but with the act she captured my soul again,
like lovers only can.
I looked into her eyes as she talked...
those eyes that always spoke to me.
She began to read my thoughts...
betrayed again.
Slowly she moved closer to me...
like she knew where she was going.
Her lips touched mine... like so long ago.
The feelings sent through my body could never be explained in words.
She made me feel like I was up in the sky,
with those artisan clouds and blue canvass.
She not only took my breath away, and
sent me to the place I remember so well;
She took the remainder of my heart that summer afternoon,
The little piece she had left before.

For a moment I reasoned that I was still day dreaming;
Cause I never thought something so tender,
something that seemed like a fantasy,
something so romantically pure, could ever come to life.
This day I could never forget as long as I live
a summer's day that would last forever…
The day she came back to me...
her love ready to share.

Suddenly I awakened...
it was just another day dream…
Just another summer afternoon...
and lunchtime has expired.
I gathered my writings of this day...
packing them away in my heart.
And hurried on my way...
into the life I now lead.
But I know I will visit this place again...
perhaps tomorrow…
on just another summer's day.
