"Metamorphosis"

@Uootem

My rain eroded ears still detect
clamoring sighs between the splashes
of childhood footsteps
in the puddles of youth once lived.
and there is loving laughter there
that still echoes to be heard
over the crying that soon followed.

I whimper towards a fabled rainbow sky
but the clouds absorb into obscurity
those memory sounds of long ago
that miss the light of your sun
in the presence of stormy darkness.

I have shouted forever
into the misty chasm
gorged into our landscape by our growing up
me in far-away mountains... you on distant shores
now my voice is emptied
the meaning of my words
decomposed in the flood
of so much futile searching
for the elusive pot of gold.

I want to be heard
above the roar of thunderous adulthood
this deaf emptiness to somehow fill
until my sound hurts like a heart
restore so I can give it to you again
and one day it will open
as the clouds pass away
and there I will be to release my poetry
in spoken terms of the flowers...
the promise of spring.
