A Summer Of You
@Uootem
our youthful summer of play and love
spent in the warmth of a caring sun staying in the heart of each cloud form above, green fields of clover upon which we lay on,
holding hands while souls touched
each of us dreaming of blue skies yet to be for there was passion in the things now written of.
each word in verse tells tales of the recollections of sunrise, Resplendent with lifetime love, your own words replied;
promises came so easily to believers then somehow chilled by winds that
warned such a splendid season
was completed before we were done-- too brief the warmth of the dreams:
for we both awakened to adult-ness.
precious moments now buried
in layers of ice like a burial shroud, shared in green fields and colored gardens
that have since turned to white, lovers' feelings which once soared amongst lofty clouds, lay grounded and forever frozen in winter's deep grasp.
will the future seasons yet to come
somehow restore once lushness to our view...? this mystery I contemplate
as I make these fragile pages
adorned with memories of a summer of you.
