My favorite spot for walking

I stand at the mystical gateway... that leads to my favorite spot
the garden footpath... I have strolled along for all of my days
so lavish with ebullience.... life's animations indeed
so many hues of green and splashes of color... each plant a blessing.

And as I advance... an ancient babbling stream awaits my ponderings
where so much water has flowed... like so much time has do also
its trickling sound so peaceful... yet haunting still is the cadence of time
with rocks and stones carefully placed in disarray... like so many dreams and hopes.

While above me soars an solitary bird... I long to touch his clouds myself
where heaven meets the air of earth... and all makes sense in the scheme of things
a gentle breeze whispers in my ear... the echoes surrounding my senses now filled
the lemon colored sun progresses gracefully... from dawn to dusk and all points in-between

And all that I find is quite astounding... as I saunter a little farther on
the scent of springtime freshness... in this late summer air
and the smell a future promised fills my lungs... with my next breath
as I pause to take it all in... the renewed sense of life.

Beyond the winding course of water and pathway... I come here again
the trees stand alone in crowds... just as I have done so many times
to them, I am no inconvenience... they hardly notice me at all
but I relish my time spent in their shade... with pen in hand and heart.

And the scenes I visit here... dazzle and delight
as a perspective like no other... a spectacle for only my eyes
and there are memories there... high and majestic distant castles
clouded over by fog on the horizon... as if in a dream yet to come.

And as evening greets me once again...darkness of my thoughts settling in
I retrace my footprints... made upon this beaten path
to return back home again... with more than I took with me
and this is how it always is... when I take a walk to my favorite spot.
