Timeless Friendship

Leagues of pleasure found in
confederacies of secrets shared
          common mutual interests
                                and aims treasure... memory, too.
frankness,
          self-revelation,
                criticisms of insights,
                                    and being.
expressions of forgotten admiration... almost at least
                      and loyalty to truth in full measure
                                        ennoblement,
                            time spent,
                      love forms so unique,
                                      and self-sacrifice.... that was not sacrifice at all.
commonplace.... dreams and adventure... nothing so commonplace.
allies... that stick together in adversity of times so unfulfilled
                                  strengthened by the benevolent impulses
                                                    that sooner or later arise
                              inciting higher purposes.............. and tranquillity
          varieties of friendship in life's exercise...
                                    of repeating life over again.... incarnate once more
                                                                friendship in sincerity
                                  friends true..... not in disguise and lies
                  friends of support... guiding along life's journey
                                            soul-help-mates... time spent together memory
                expressing things not ever expressed before
                                and re-living situations
                                                  through talk debates
                    spans of years, miles, and century............ lifetimes.
the wine of life... a well-stocked cellar
                        yet the jagged edges of a knife... found in the pain of separation
                                            an assortment of cutlery like...
                    hearts given, and taken...
                  promises made, broken, but not....
  then....... as if all at once:
timeless friendship found....
          renewal of what has always been.
