hourglass treasures

@uootem

Unpretentious items collected in my mind,
small treasures; cherished moments;
priceless tidbits of happiness captured in a place
that knows not the passing of time
a memory hourglass... grain upon grain
as they slip slowly away - temporarily.

Don't fully understand why I have collected them:
... playing tag football in a muddy field near our church
... the mist over the mountain on a morning in Tennessee,
... the fragrance of spring after a rain where we walked hand in hand,
... our laughter of youthfulness, a few tears too
... a gentle touch - your arms around me
... the taste of our first kiss... and its innocence of passion.

I wish I had a photo album in which to display them
photos so you could see them as I do in my memory
If only I could share them with you, perhaps you would remember too
but alas, they are for me alone.

Instead, I am here, unable to sleep,
writing of another time and place
when all seemed so right with the world
because I knew you cared...
as another grain slips through my hourglass.
