Pirouetting water
@uootem
several months of pirouetting water has now coursed its way
under that proverbial bridge -- which spans lifetimes
all this since our happenstance encounter of polite conversation
...conversed in the language of lost loves that we are.
once-upon-a-time acquaintances now in different roles.
I realize this consequence what unintentional on your part
... as well it perhaps should be after so much time.
but I am impelled to offer a word of thanks... sincere gratitude
for the way you touched my life once again.
... you always seem to affect me significantly ... always have... possibly always will.
the poet that once flourished in my existence
... the same poet that spent so many words describing your distinction
has lay dormant for decades... reborn to the impulses of our youth.
... suppressed and secluded emotions... those memories
... inspirations that made him a poet in the first place.
to find the poet within myself anew
is like finding a rare treasure... misplaced in an earlier time.
I am not sure if it has to do with...
the experience of hearing your voice... that broke the years of quietness
or the repositioning of those memories ... forever stored in the attic of time.
or your question, "do you still write poetry"
or fragments of each... perhaps
thank you.
