"Another Vision"

i had another vision,
                that seemed so real to me:
                                      us, hand in hand...
                            walking so boldly to the future,
someone laughed...
                and i was startled by the reality of that sound...
                                      by the knowing that you are not here with me...
                                                            as I saw someone else and you walking.
the ache of my heart,
                a portioned blessing for you,
                                      i guess.... i regret...
for there is a joy without beginning,
                resting in the moment never experienced.
                                      i wanted so much to be were he is,
                              me, your love for life...
                to share our years...
                                      one at a time.... and then the next.
thus, here I stand with the memorized picture of you,
                with a renewal of a dream as hope,
                                      as a beacon for me!
someday, for this I dream,
                the threshold of the future
                                          let me carry you across it,
                            with your gaze fixed in my eyes,
the thought of you and me vibrant in you heart
                my lifetime source of pleasure...
                            my lifetime source of pain....
but alas, just another vision.... nothing more, nothing less.
