Notes:
2004!
KAIENTAI starts the night against Hardly Christian in a
hot opening match.
Next, D'Lo Brown and Jeff Hardy teamed up for one night
to take on the newly heel team of Reckless Angle.
Reckless Angle pick up the win, but decide that it's time
for them to start singles careers. During the match, Erik
Angle displayed a lot of hardcore wrestling ability, and
he may be a new man for the Hardcore division.
X-Pac took on Crash Holly for the Lightheavyweight title.
Hardcore is out with a injured foot, so Crash is getting
another singles chance. But, X-Pac ends that chance right
away with a win.
William Regal fights Dean Malenko for the European title!
Dean Malenko won that title from Kanyon almost a year ago
at WrestleMania 19, but now Regal gets his chance! Regal
defeats Malenko to become the new Euro champ! After the
match, D'Lo Brown attacks Regal.
The Dark Carnival takes on the Impact Players. Nash and
Hall want them softened up for WrestleMania, and the
Carnival does just that! The Carnival beats the Impact
Players with a little help from ICP.
Kanyon gets his shot at Edge for what Kanyon did to Jeff
Hardy at Survivor Series. But, Edge beats Kanyon and
retains the IC title.
Eddie & Chavo get another shot at the tag-team
titles, but The Outsiders still seem invincible in the
WWF.
Rob Van Dam took on Hollywood Hogan. If Hollywood wins,
Van Dam has to LEAVE the WWF and go back to ECW (where
only Bret Hart and Bill Goldberg are competeing for the
RWCW). If Van Dam wins, he gets Hogan's spot in the Royal
Rumble! Van Dam won, and he gets to go into the Rumble at
#6!
Sean O'Haire fought Randy Savage for HIS spot in the
Rumble. If Savage won, O'Haire has to go back to WCW
(where only Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, and Scott Steiner
are competeing for the RWCW). O'Haire won, and he gets to
enter the Rumble at #18! (Masato Tanaka will represent
ECW, and Chuck Palumbo will represent WCW).
Al Snow fought Chris Jericho and won! It was NOT for Al's
Hardcore title, although it should have been.
Kurt Angle fought Ric Flair! After Angle beat Flair, he
was attacked by Hollywood Hogan, setting up a feud
between the old American hero, and the new American hero.
Next, Booker T pinned Scott Steiner.
Triple H pinned Bill Goldberg!
Next up was the Royal Rumble. In the end, it was RVD (who
was in for 1 hour and 52 minutes, a new record) and Sean
O'Haire (who was in for 1 hour and 28 minutes) against
each other; the winner facing either Bret Hart or Chris
Benoit at WrestleMania XX! And...Rob Van Dam won the
match and gets his shot at WrestleMania to finally settle
the score with the "REAL WCW"! Many people,
though, believe Van Dam will actually join the RWCW
during the main event at WrestleMania, causing the RWCW
to continue living on!
And finally...the main event. Chris Benoit gets his
rematch against Bret Hart, and Bret's hated enemy, Shawn
Michaels, is the special ref. The last time Shawn reffed
a match for Bret, The Undertaker won the WWF World title
from Bret. Things started great, Shawn ruled down the
middle. Towards the end of the match, though, he was
admonishing Bret for very little, and counting slow for
his pinfalls. Finally, the end came when...Shawn
superkicked Chris Benoit in the face! Bret put him in the
Sharpshooter, and Shawn called for the bell without
Benoit even moving his hand to tap: he was unconscious.
Bret wins and Shawn joins the RWCW! He reveals that HE
was the third man who attacked Triple H at Survivor
Series.
