Notes:
Generation
X started out 2006 by defeating The Hollys in another
nothing feud and match for them. X-Pac and Kid Kash
continued to complain about the lack of respect.
Maise, Erik Angle, and Scotty Too Hotty (Hardcore, Euro,
and Light champs respectfully) fought in a non-title
match to determine who the better champ is. Maise won and
continued his huge streak.
The Lost Boys defended against E & C and Impact
Players and won again. The Lost Boys are amazingly
garnering many cheers (against IP, not against E &
C).
Tajiri beat D'Lo Brown in a nothing match.
Edge ended his feud with Dean Malenko by beating him in a
half an hour match! It was also the match of the night.
Saturn beat Kurt Angle just to prove he could beat an
Angle brother. Erik said he wasn't impressed because he
used to beat Kurt all the time.
Al Snow beat Booker T. After the match he was attacked by
Dean Malenko for no real reason other than he's Edge's
friend. End of Edge/Malenko feud, beginning Malenko/Snow
feud.
Hardly Christian fought Jeff Hardy in what was billed as
a Handicap match, but eventually became one-on-one when
Matt Hardy never tagged in. Christian was able to get a
win over Jeff, however, because whenever Jeff tried for a
pin, Matt still broke it up.
William Regal challenged for the IC title because O'Haire
attacked him when Regal attacked RVD on RAW a few weeks
ago. Regal nearly got the win, but O'Haire was able to
pull it out in the end.
The Royal Rumble! Rhyno & Sabu represented ECW, and
Palumbo & Test represented WCW. Kurt Angle came in at
#3, but lasted the whole thing and won it! After Booker T
and William Regal were thrown out, people basically KNEW
Angle would win, but it was still a surprise he stayed in
for that long. 1:40 minutes, a #2 record, just behind
RVD's huge time length. Kurt Angle will fight at
WrestleMania for the World title!
Chris Benoit took on RVD in the main event. One year ago,
Benoit won the Rumble to get a shot at RVD at
WrestleMania, but this year he's fighting in the main
event for the strap. However, once again, RVD came out on
top, retaining the title yet again. He will now fight in
his third straight WrestleMania for the World title! Next
month is an eight man tag match.
