Notes:
The
Impact Players beat The Hollys in the ongoing quest to
get them over again. But it fails here.
Scotty Too Hotty and Tajiri fight for a shot at the
Lightheavyweight Title, but they battle to a time limit
draw in 40 minutes, thus both men earn a shot. After the
match, Dean Malenko runs out and annihilates both men
with chairs. Christian comes out to attack Tajiri, but
Malenko nails him with a chair, too. Malenko is now the
biggest heel in the federation.
E & C try to reclaim past glory with a win over The
Lost Boys, but they're not very popular anymore.
Al Snow faces Dean Malenko and D'Lo Brown in a handicap
match. This resulted after D'Lo pleaded with Dean to help
him wipe out Al. Dean agreed to be D'Lo's partner for one
night only. They beat Al rather easily, but after the
match, Dean once again goes all weird and destroys Al.
When D'Lo comes up with a chair and is about to hit Al,
Dean wipes out D'Lo. Dean is seriously the most over heel
since Triple H, Chris Jericho (when he turned against
Angle), and Bret Hart (when he redebuted at Survivor
Series and beat Chris Benoit for the World title).
Next up, The Hardyz/GenX feud returns as I promised, only
now it's for the tag-team titles! GenX get their first
title shot EVER, and they make good on it when they beat
The Hardyz to earn their first tag-team title reign!
Sean O'Haire takes on Christian after what transpired at
the Rumble. Christian gets the win after Dean Malenko
nails O'Haire with a chair. Christian, no longer trusting
Malenko, tries to hit him, but Malenko fires away with
chair shots knocking Christian out. Malenko is booed big
time again.
Maise teams up with Erik Angle to face Saturn (who is
feuding with both men) and Edge, who Saturn asked to be
his tag-team partner tonight. Maise and Angle get the win
when Maise pins Edge, starting a feud with them. This
ends the Saturn/Maise feud, and escalates the
Satturn/Angle rivalry.
Booker T takes on Kurt Angle for the WrestleMania title
shot. Neither man wants to give up, so finally, Kurt hits
a German suplex but is too tired to raise his shoulders,
and both men are counted down for the pin, resulting in a
three-way dance at WrestleMania!
Chris Benoit requested to be involved in this match to
get some revenge on Regal, so RVD said okay. The match
was great, but just before the end, Shane Douglas pulled
RVD out of the ring and threw him through a table,
putting him out of the match. Ric Flair attacked Shane,
allowing Dean Malenko and Booker T (no longer with D'Lo,
as D'Lo was seemingly booted from Triple Threat honorary
membership earlier) to run in and attack Benoit while the
ref tried to seperate Flair and Douglas. Edge and Sean
O'Haire ran down to make the save, but the damage was
done, and William Regal pinned Chris Benoit to win RVD's
World title! Once again, Regal needs help to win the
title from RVD! Regal is now a three time champ and will
defend against Kurt Angle and Booker T at WrestleMania
23!
After the match, RVD confronted Benoit, as he was the
reason RVD lost the title, but nothing happened, and they
shook hands afterwards. The Horsemen live on!
