Generation X fought and beat The Hollys and The Impact Players in the opening match of WrestleMania XXII! GX is on a role, but don't look to get any title shots any time soon.
E & C fought The Lost Boys for the tag-team titles. After an extremely good match, E & C won back their tag-team titles from the almost unbeatable Lost Boys!
Dean Malenko and Al Snow went into an I Quit match to end their feud. Dean got the win by making Al submit to the Texas Cloverleif.
Tajiri challenged for the Light-heavyweight title, but his feud with Scotty ended with Scotty getting the win and retaining the title.
Booker T, William Regal, and Chris Benoit fought in a match to determine the #1 contender to the World title yet again. Regal got the win again and gets a shot at the World title at Backlash. If RVD retains tonight, then their feud continues!
D'Lo Brown and Perry Saturn challenged Erik Angle for the European title! Tonight, Saturn came to win! He beat his arch enemy, Erik Angle, 17 minutes into the match to get his first win over him, making him 1-9 against Angle in his 10 match with him. D'Lo was so shocked that Saturn pinned Angle, that Saturn was able to get a quick win over D'Lo right away to gain the European title!
Edge fought Christian in their mini-feud that started because of Jeff Hardy. In an ECW rules match, Edge took the win after Christian missed a body splash from the top rope. Both men were bloody and winded after the match.
Sean O'Haire fought Maise in a match only for O'Haire's Intercontinental title. In a match that will vie for match of the year honors, Maise was able to defeat Sean O'Haire and win the IC title to add to his Hardcore title!
The Dudley Boyz represented ECW, Team Hurricane (Shane Helms & Shannon Moore) represented WCW, and the return of The Hardy Boyz was made when they represented the WWF! The Hardy Boyz won the match when Jeff Hardy beat Shane Helms to win for the WWF!
Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam ended their feud tonight with Angle getting yet another World title shot. In the second match that will compete for match of the year, Rob Van Dam beat Kurt Angle in an Iron Man match! The match reminded MANY fans of Shawn Michaels/Bret Hart from WrestleMania XII, only ten years before. Rob Van Dam took the win after getting 7 falls to Angle's 4. After the match, William Regal attacked RVD, but Sean O'Haire and Edge ran out and the faces beat down Angle and Regal!
