Notes:
King of
the Ring starts off with two of the top heel teams
fighting each other, as GenX beats The Lost Boys to
continue their winning streak.
Dean Malenko defeats Scotty Too Hotty to end their small
feud that had been playing out on RAW.
Booker T fights D'Lo Brown in an I Quit match and beats
him to end their feud, which wasn't recieving very much
praise, and was considered "racist."
The Hardy Boyz go over The Impact Players, thereby
turning the Players into absolutely nothing in the fans
eyes. GenX seems to be the solid top heel team, while The
Hardyz garner many cheers and may soon challenge E &
C as the top face team.
In the King of the Ring tournament, Chris Benoit goes
over Tajiri to advance to the semis. The fans cheered him
on a little, but Tajiri was much more supported.
Sean O'Haire took out Christian for his friend, Edge,
while later in the night Edge faces O'Haire's nemesis,
Maise.
Kurt Angle beats Perry Saturn in a non-title match to
move up in the tourny.
And finally, Al Snow jobs out to Erik Angle as Erik moves
up in the tourny.
E & C defend and retain their titles against The
Hollys.
Chris Benoit takes on Sean O'Haire, and this time, the
crowd is solidly behind O'Haire. However, Benoit is able
to obtain the big win and move to the finals of yet
another King of the Ring.
Kurt Angle beats his brother Erik Angle in a match where
neither man was cheered, but rather each man getting the
shit kicked out of him was cheered. Now the winner of the
finals, as long as there isn't a repeat of last year's
double win, will be the first man to win the King of the
Ring twice!
Edge takes on Maise for O'Haire, but Maise is able to
dish out a hard fought win and retain the title.
The finals! In an excellent match, Chris Benoit goes over
Kurt Angle and is suddenly cheered to high heaven by the
fans. After the match, he continued to beat on Angle to
cheers. Benoit has made a face turn. And he's the first
two time King of the Ring. And he gets a title shot next
month.
And finally, the final match. William Regal recieves yet
another shot at Rob Van Dam in their feud ending match
here, and Regal gets a HUGE win and the World title!!! He
ends RVD's huge streak with the title, and it's all due
to interference from Kurt Angle against RVD! After the
match, Benoit attacked Angle and Regal to huge cheers.
