Notes:
And the
WWF seems to put an end to the "REAL WCW"'s
reign of terror tonight! Almost, at least. The night
starts with an okay match between the DC and the Holly's.
The Carnival gets the win against The Holly's just to
keep SOME RWCW power.
Next, we get a WWF debut as Reckless Youth and Erik Angle
(Reckless Angle, get it? Reckless like stupid and Angle
like storyline...stupid storyline...ha! Plus it's their
names.) took on KAIENTAI. Tajiri and TAKA put up a fight,
but the new guys get the win. At first people would think
it's another RWCW team, but they quickly talk about how
Bischoff and the rest of the RWCW guys suck, and how
they're going to get revenge on them for hurting Erik's
brother, Kurt.
E & C fight the Impact Players just because they're
two tag-teams. E & C win for no particular reason.
D'Lo, Edge, and Saturn fight for a shot at the IC title
at SummerSlam. D'Lo and Saturn aren't QUITE IC material,
so Edge gets the win so he can finally start capitalizing
on his 2001 KotR title.
Dean Malenko FINALLY defends his European title, against
William Regal now. Regal, though, isn't quite the man I'm
looking for to take the title from Dean...at least not
yet. Dean wins.
Chris Benoit takes a shot at Kanyon for turning his back
on the WWF. Kanyon doesn't defend the WCW US title, and
Benoit kicks his ass.
Jeff Hardy, in something I didn't even see coming, beat
Scott Steiner! Oh well...Steiner doesn't need the win,
anyway.
Al Snow gets another shot at X-Pac's IC title to finally
end their few months long feud. X-Pac gets the win,
though, because Snow still isn't IC quality.
Sean O'Haire continues to help raise his stock with a
great match against Bill Goldberg. O'Haire beats him
because this is "THE END OF THE REAL WCW" in
Vinny Mac's words.
However...the RWCW beat Triple H, Booker T, and Kurt
Angle in a six man match. Hogan, Savage, and Flair took
on the three men and beat them in the middle of the ring.
Okay, well, it was a DQ when HHH pushed the ref, but
still. The RWCW gets a win!
And another win! Hardly Christian got the shot, but they
failed to succeed. The Outsiders are still the undisputed
tag-team champions of the world!
But...in the main event...a match people have been
waiting for. Rob Van Dam, the newly crowned King of the
Ring, takes on Chris Jericho, his former friend and
mentor, for the WWF World Heavyweight Title. Vince
McMahon banned all of the RWCW from ringside, or they
would all be stripped of their titles and rights to
compete in the WWF. The match was neck and neck...and
great match. And the end came when RVD hit Jericho with
his Five Star Frog Splash to finally win the WWF World
Heavyweight Title! RWCW hold NO singles World titles
anymore! Many herald them as dead! Time to change angles.
