Notes:
Generation
X starts out the night by beating The Impact Players and
E & C, formerly the two top teams in the WWF. The
Hardy Boyz and GenX have easily taken their places.
Scotty Too Hotty continues his feud with The Four
Horsemen here, once again facing Sean O'Haire. O'Haire
kicks the shit out of the little whiny bastard and wins
the match.
D'Lo Brown and Edge continue their feud in this Cage/#1
Contender's Match to the IC title. After a long, hard
match, Edge and D'Lo Brown pin each other at the same
time during a German Suplex, and both men get a shot at
the IC title at Survivor Series.
The Lost Boys beat The Hardy Boyz in a #1 contender's
match.
Saturn and Al Snow face Maise in a match for the European
and Hardcore titles. Snow is the first man out, after
only four minutes. After another 20 minutes, Maise
continues his dominance over Saturn in their feud by
pinning him with the Morphine Drop. This is still nowhere
NEAR the end of their feud.
Christian faces Tajiri for the Lightheavyweight title in
the first match in their feud (which will extend until
WrestleMania). Christian gets a surprise win over the
monster face, Tajiri, to attain the Lightheavyweight
Title!
Rob Van Dam defends The Horsemen's honor against a member
of what is now being called The Triple Threat! Here's
some back history. In WCW, Chris Benoit was a member of
The Four Horsemen along with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and
Brian Pillman. After Pillman left, Steve McMichael took
his place. Then Anderson retired, so Flair gave Curt
Hennig a chance to be in the Horsemen. Hennig turned
against them, and Jeff Jarrett joined. Flair kicked
Jarrett out, and the Horsemen died. Finally, Dean Malenko
and Chris Benoit wanted to reform the Horsemen, so Flair
finally emerged and reformed the Horsemen with Malenko,
Benoit, Flair, and McMichael. McMichael soon dissapeared,
the Horsemen died, Benoit and Malenko joined The
Revolution, and soon reappeared in the WWF along with
Eddie Guerrero and Perry Saturn as The Radicalz. As for
the Triple Threat, it was first formed by Shane Douglas,
along with Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. When Benoit and
Malenko went to WCW (resulting in the Horsemen lineage),
Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow joined Douglas in the
Triple Threat. Bam Bam was soon kicked out, and Lance
Storm was an honorary member, but that fell through, and
Bam Bam rejoined. Then they fought a New Triple Threat:
Sabu, RVD, and Taz. The Triple Threat died when Bam Bam
and Douglas went to WCW, soon followed by Candido.
Douglas soon formed The Revolution, along with Benoit and
Malenko, the original Triple Threat members. Thus, both
Benoit and Malenko are veterans of The Triple Threat and
The Four Horsemen, so when Benoit reformed the Horsemen,
Malenko decided to reform The Triple Threat with Regal
and Booker T. End History Lesson.
Rob Van Dam beats Malenko.
The Holly's get their shot at The Angles, but The Angles
get the win to retain their tag-team titles.
Chris Benoit fights Booker T & William Regal in a
handicap match, first man to pin or make someone submit
wins the title. Sadly, Regal and Booker couldn't pin each
other because they were on the same team, otherwise they
would have schemed up a plan. Chris Benoit gets the big
win making it Horsemen 2, Triple Threat 0.
