Bret Hart made Chris Benoit submit to the Sharpshooter in
0:16:55.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Bret Hart won the WWF World Heavyweight Title.)
Notes:
Before
the event, Eric Bischoff confirms that the man who will
face Benoit IS here, and that this match will be under
his rules, not Vince's, so Vince can't call for a bell or
anything like that.
Night starts out with a GREAT tag-team triangle match.
The winning team is to get a tag-title shot at
WrestleMania (yeah, it's early, but still), and no shots
until then. Kind of a good deal, since they're guaranted
a title shot at the biggest event of the year. The Impact
Players win the sudden death match when Justin Credible
pins Tajiri. They get a shot at WrestleMania, and none
until then.
Next up, D'Lo Brown and William Regal kick their feud
into full gear. They've had petty squabbling at RAW's
since Judgement Day over who the better Euro champ was.
D'Lo had won that match, and most of the matches they've
had on RAW's since then. This time, though, Regal picks
up the victory to continue their feud.
The Dark Carnival fights in one of two matches they have
tonight. Here, they get a win over the Holly's.
Next, Kanyon takes on Jeff Hardy in a match not for the
Lightheavyweight title. Kanyon will have the upperhand,
but his whole gimmick is him going crazy after a loss, so
he loses this match. He attacks Jeff after the match, but
Jeff is saved by Edge. This sets up Edge v/s Kanyon at
Royal Rumble.
E & C get a shot at the Outsiders again, but one more
time, Nash and Hall get the big win. These guys are just
unstoppable. I don't remember them being beat since I
brought them in. After the match, the Impact Players come
down to stop The Outsiders from attacking E & C.
Start of what will be a huge feud, since The Outsiders
never gave the Players a rematch after they won the
titles at KotR.
Dean Malenko fights Chris Jericho, not for the Euro
strap, and Jericho gets a big win over Dean. These two go
WAY back in feud history to their old WCW days when
Jericho made fun of Dean's dad, Boris Malenko.
Al Snow gets a shot to put down old timer Ric Flair, and
he does it! Probably Snow's biggest win to date, as I
want to get this man something before I make him retire.
Now the first of tonight's Survivor style matches. Booker
T, Rob Van Dam, Edge, and Sean O'Haire against Mike
Awesome, Sabu, The Sandman, and New Jack: WWF v/s ECW.
The first fall comes when Booker beat New Jack, cuz I
want him out of there cuz he sucks. Next, specualtion
rises that RVD is the man who will join the RWCW, as
Jericho stands on the ramp and RVD runs off the chase
him, and gets counted out. Sabu uses a chair on Edge to
get disqualified, Booker beats Sandman, and Sean O'Haire
beats Mike Awesome for the win.
Next, a last minute addition as The Outsiders and The
Dark Carnival take on ECW's Dudley Clan, The Dudley Boys
& The New Dudleyz. Buh Buh, D-Von, Big Dick, and
Spike take the win after defeating each member of the
"REAL WCW". Bischoff claims its because Nash,
Hall, Vamp, and Muta all had matches earlier and were
fatigued.
Raven, Tazz, Dreamer, and Tanaka take on Palumbo, Test,
Elix, and Romeo. Tazz and Tanaka are the only two left at
the end as ECW beats WCW.
Next up, RWCW v/s WCW as Hogan, Savage, Steiner, and
Goldberg take on Rock, Wight, Kidman, and Douglas. The
RWCW take the win when Goldberg is the only member of
their team to get eliminated.
Final Survivor match, with Triple H, Angle, Angle, and
Youth facing Austin, DDP, Helms, and Bigelow. Triple H
never shows up for the match, adding specualtion that HE
may be the one who joins the RWCW. Even with only three
men, the WWF destroy the WCW team. Afterwards, Austin
(the WCW champ) officially says that his last match will
be at WWF's WrestleMania, even though he's in WCW. He and
The Rock will face Scott Steiner and Bill Goldberg in a
WCW v/s RWCW match, and that will be his last. If he
still has the World title, he will give it up.
And now, finally, the moment everyone has been waiting
for. Bischoff sits down at ringside as Chris Benoit is
announced and comes to the ring with his first WWF World
title. Since this is Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Chris
Benoit is the man the fans WANT to cheer for (even though
he's from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) until...the
excellence of execution emerges as his old WWF music
plays! The crowd erupts! Bret Hart gets the win and the
WWF World title in an AWESOME match against Benoit. The
end is: as soon as Bret puts Chris in the Sharpshooter,
Bischoff calls for the bell! Just like McMahon did to
Bret in 97! A beatdown ensues on Benoit...and soon the
cheers for Bret are drowned out by the boos. Bret gets on
the mic while the rest of the RWCW beat on Benoit and
tells Vince that he got his win back. RVD and Kurt Angle
come out to help Benoit, but get beatdown as well. Booker
comes out, as does Erik Angle, Reckless Youth, Sean
O'Haire, Regal, Malenko, Snow, Edge, the Hardyz,
Christian, D'Lo, Players, KAIENTAI, and everyone who was
here with ECW and WCW. They all chase off the RWCW.
Triple H is finally shown backstage in a pool of blood:
he was beat down by Hall and Nash before his match,
that's why he never showed. There was said to be a third
man helping Hall and Nash, but no one knows who...yet.
