Bret Hart made Masato Tanaka submit to a sleeperhold in
0:16:02.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Bret Hart won the ECW World Heavyweight Title.)
Notes:
After the
horrid display at Survivor Series, Paul Heyman and Masato
Tanaka dared Bret Hart to step into a HARDCORE ring and
see if he can take the ECW title, so that sets up ECW's
biggest PPV of the year's main event.
The night starts with lots of filler matches. Not exactly
filler, as they end big ECW feuds, but they're filler to
anyone who just cares about the RWCW invasion right now.
Big Dick beats New Jack, Rhyno beats Sandman, Kash
retains against 911, and Mike Awesome pins Raven.
Next we get to the RWCW/ECW matches. It starts with the
The Dudley Boys taking on the Outsiders for the ECW
Tag-Team titles...and The Dudleys win them! A little help
from Spike and Big Dick may have been the tide turner,
but still, The Outsiders get their first loss and lose
some titles. The start of the downfall of RWCW? That's
been said MANY times before.
Back to ECW feuds, as Tazz pins Spike Dudley (Tazz and
New Jack has been feuding with the whole Dudley Clan),
Sabu pins Jerry Lynn, and Corino pins Tommy Dreamer.
Next, Kid Kash fights in another match. He teams up with
old enemy, C.W. Anderson, to take on Bill Goldberg and
Scott Steiner, and ECW is up 2-0.
And finally, Bret Hart's shocking return is still going
through everyone's minds. It WAS only a week ago,
afterall. Hart fights Tanaka, BOTH titles on the line.
But it's all for not with Tanaka, as Bret comes out the
champion! The ECW rules thing kind of helped Bret, as
everyone from the RWCW helped him win the title. All the
ECW guys tried to help Tanaka, but RWCW had chairs and
other weapons to fend them off. RWCW leaves with two
World titles!
