Notes:
Faarooq
defended against and beat Perry Saturn. Not a good choice
for an opener, but it still excited the crowd.
Next up we saw X-Pac take out Scotty 2 Hotty in a great
match, one of X-Pac's best in the last few years. He's
really picking it up.
Dean Malenko then beat Tajiri in the best match of the
night, and retained the WWF Light-heavyweight Title in
the process. Malenko is at his all time best right now,
and he really is one of the top players in the WWF right
now even though he's only Light-heavy champ.
Edge and Christian finally fought to cap off their feud,
and Edge beat Christian with the Downward Spiral.
Christian was once again PISSED after the match, and ran
off mad.
After Matt Hardy pinned brother Jeff to retain the Euro
title in this "respect" match, Christian ran
down and attacked Jeff! Just when it looked like Matt was
going to nail Christian, he attacked Jeff, too! These two
are now a heel force against Edge & Jeff. Their
reasons? Because everyone talks about Edge & Jeff
main eventing WrestleMania 23 or whatever, when Matt and
Christian aren't even mentioned. They want to prove that
they're BETTER than Edge & Jeff. They already have
SOME facts on their side, such as Matt beating Jeff and
having the Euro title, and Christian winning gold in his
very first WWF match while Edge went over a year before
he won the IC title, and then he lost it the next night.
Next up, Bradshaw continued his assent to the top by
beating Chris Benoit in a very good match. Then we saw
RVD beat Al Snow to retain the IC title, in what was a
rematch from their match at ECW's Hardcore Heaven `97.
This time, though, Al had a CHANCE to win.
Sean O'Haire pinned Kanyon in another good match.
E&C once again beat the Impact Players, in one of the
better tag-team matches of the year. Eddie and Chavo are
on a roll.
Kurt Angle pinned William Regal to end their US v/s
Europe feud.
And finally, Triple H beat Booker T again to retain the
WWF World Title. The next night on RAW, a feud between
Kurt and HHH is started, but it is billed as a friendship
feud, just to see who the better man is (even though most
fans know about the animosity brewing underneath over the
whole Stephanie issue, and Trip wants to kill Angle
because of it).
