Crime Prevention 101
All you need to know to prevent crime from happening.
Your phone got snatched?
Ouch!!! Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately for you, cellphone snatching is one of the top most-reported crimes today because cell phones really are hot commodities. AND, they are the fastest products nowadays to dispose of - meaning, they are the easiest to sell aside from jewelry.
There are two ways in which you could do something about this - ONE, you run after the thief but BE VERY CAREFUL as the bad guy (or woman) may have companions with him/her or is loaded with a deadly weapon. Approach with caution. If possible, seek help from people. There are many good Samaritans around who would be willing to help you.
The second one is NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!! If you really can't apprehend the thief and retrieve your precious phone, what you can do is get hold of your phone unit's Serial Number and then report it to the police so that your phone will be blocked from use by other people beside you - meaning it will be difficult to sell your phone to prospectable buyers because your phone is now considered virtually worthless... they can't use it anymore!!!
For Nokia Users, press *#06# to know your phone's serial number, then write it down somewhere safe and easily accessible for you.
Another thing you can do which all people should do is NOT TO PATRONIZE HOT GOODS or STOLEN ITEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By buying stolen items such as cell phones, you are only contributing to the ever-growing crime. You don't know but you may become the next victim. So, if you know people who sell stolen goods such as cellphones, report them immediately to the police.
