Greetings to you all!

It is a great pleasure for us to announce that we have organized the University of the Philippines - Los Baños Alumni Association of America (UPLBAA-America) on October 5, 1996 in San Francisco, California.

The Objectives of UPLBAA-America are:

1. To bring together all UPLB alumni in the USA and Canada in order to promote active exchange of ideas and camaraderie.
2. To welcome newly-arrived UPLB alumni in the USA and Canada.
3. To create programs that are of mutual benefit to the members of the association.
4. To provide an organized system of assisting the University of the Philippines - Los Baños accomplish its missions as an outstanding academic institution.
5. To encourage and assist in the formation of UPLB alumni chapters in areas, cities or regions in the USA and Canada, where a large number of UPLB alumni reside.
6. To establish a UPLBAA-America Endowment Fund to support projects of the association at UPLB and in communities in the USA and Canada, where UPLB alumni chapters exist.
7. To sponsor scholarships and other projects which shall be open to all qualified applicants in the community.

UPLBAA-America membership is open to all UPLB graduates residing in the USA and Canada. There are two general types of membership, namely: Regular and Lifetime. Regular members pay twenty dollars a year and Lifetime members make a one time payment of one hundred and twenty dollars.

We strongly recommend a Lifetime membership. UPLBAA-America Lifetime members will receive the following benefits:

• A beautiful Lifetime membership plaque with the UPLBAA-America logo on it.
• A Lifetime membership card which will entitle the bearer emergency medical treatment at the UPLB Health Service (Formerly Infirmary) and other benefits if needed, while visiting the UPLB Campus.
• Names of Lifetime members will be proudly displayed on a plate mounted on the wall space reserved for the purpose at the UPLB Alumni Center.
• Available previous copies of UPLBAA-America souvenir programs.
• A peace of mind of having not to worry to pay the annual membership fee.
• Lifetime members give everlasting financial support to UPLB because the Lifetime membership fee will be used to grow a UPLBAA-America Endowment Fund, the proceeds from which will be used in turn to help our beloved alma mater modernize our lecture halls, laboratories, provide scholarships and help improve the academic environment of the UPLB campus, something that will make all of us even be more proud of being UPLB alumni.
• Like a stockholder, Lifetime members will receive a statement of the status of the Endowment Fund and all its related projects each year.

Fellow UPLB graduates, our alma mater greatly helped us all before, so now let us look back and say UPLB, thank you for all your help. How can we be of help to you in return? Our beloved UPLB lovingly and willingly prepared and gave us all the tools and passports to where, who and how we are today. Our alma mater does not deserve any form of unconcern or indifference from any of its alumni. In line with the famous statement of the late President Kennedy, "Ask not, what UPLB can do for you, but what you can do for UPLB".

UPLBAA-America's mission is to be of help to its members and UPLB. Fellow UPLB alumni, please join our crusade to help UPLB in any way we can. Joining UPLBAA-America means "a tradition of gratitude, loyalty and giving, for a heritage of honorable service and academic excellence of our beloved alma mater".

UPLBAA-America has great and noble plans for its members and UPLB. Please help us translate our ideas and plans into fulfillment, our words into actions or deeds, and into tangible, concrete and sustainable results. We can be all proud of it, because these are for all of us.

We need your help. Please be a Lifetime member of UPLBAA-America, and help us encourage any UPLB Alumni you know to be a Lifetime member too. It will be the greatest and most productive and lasting decision of your life.
