Dear Manager

The Un(der)employed People's Movement against Poverty Inc. is am advocacy organisation, unfunded and managed by un- and underemployed people with few resources. Over the past two years we have managed to publish a monthly newsletter, speak to several groups, participate in network meetings and work with the union movement. We have also established and maintained our web site at http://au.oocities.com/upmapoverty which also contains all our newsletter and many links and resources. Further we have made several submissions to inquiries about the Job Network, breaching and the Volunteer Legislation in SA. Together with Shelter SA and the Welfare Rights Centre of SA we undertook a small research project on the links between hoomeless and breaching.

Resulting from our daily contact with unemployed people, our insights in to the Social Security Act and policies of Centrelink and the Job Network we have developed a small booklet about how to appeal to Centrelink decisions, which cut recipients off their social security payments. The booklet also contains in the middle a form which asks for the continuation of payments during the review period and can be handed directly to Centrelink Officers.

The booklet is titled: "Trouble with Centrelink Payments?" and has been reviewed by experts and by the Welfare Rights Centre SA, the organisation which handles appeals for Centrelink customers.

We believe that this booklet would assist many of your workers on the coalface and especially many of your clients.

We have sent you some of these booklets, which have been printed and are available in quantities from 10 to 500. If you want more we will have to print another run and you will have to order them. Waiting time can be up to two weeks.

As we have costs printing these booklets and would like to also use them for our purposes, we are asking for a small contribution towards the costs of producing the booklets. Our first print run has not been large, therefore indicate your interest early to avoid having to wait for the next run.

Attached to this letter you can find our order form. You can fill it in and sent it by fax or mail to the address indicated with a cheque for the sum indicated on the order form.

Thank you for your interest and support in our work!

Kind regards

Monika Baker, Secretary, Un(der)employed People's Movement against Poverty Inc.
