This site is
intended to gather a comprehensive collection of information
for and about unemployed people and unemployment
in Australia. This includes information about how to find a job
at varying levels (from a part-time job in high-school to graduate
professional employment), statistics on levels and types of unemployment,
current news articles about unemployment, advocacy for unemployed
people and workers, and contacts for professional and community
organisations. It is also the purpose of this site to advocate for
and support unemployed people in both their search for employment
and in their struggle to retain some dignity.

UNEMPA
-
Empowerment
and Advocacy Lobby group, link up and send them a message of solidarity.
Here is what they say in their introduction:
About
UNEMPA The long-term prospect of solving Australia’s unemployment
problems is absolutely dependent upon the substitution of present
de-humanising ideas-cum-policies with a new ideological and policy
framework. Solving the problem is no longer simply a matter of finding
work for unemployed people. Too many people have been emotionally
and socially destroyed for such a simplistic solution. And too many
people have adopted the hard-nosed economic view of things - 'survival
of the fittest' and let the rest do their best with what’s left.

In
working to eliminate homelessness, the Council
to Homeless Persons seeks a fair go for people
who are homeless. The Council has a membership of approximately
200, consisting of most homeless persons agencies. It represents
larger agencies such as Hanover, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de
Paul, Melbourne City Mission, Mission to Streets and Lanes as well
as most smaller agencies.
