Come
with me behind the scenes to witness the crew’s life in
those two worlds. The story being about one very ‘male’
Captain (my husband) and one very ‘female’ cruise
director (me), we come from very different backgrounds and very
differing points of view, this is a tour a brochure will never
offer.
I plunge headlong into the very soul of ‘life at sea’.
Many think of this as fantasy. My book is a conversation with
me as a one-on-one filled with histories, itineraries, dreams
and phantoms. One is reminded how this confusing floating miniature
country doesn’t always stay at sea, thus grounding us ashore
blending reality into intrigue. This book was written to show
another kind of life that few people know exists, and for those
who know, to put an on board reality in perspective.
Whether
it involves ghosts, foul play, love or dreams; nothing is left
out of this drama of life at sea; including thoughts of terrorism
and a short mention of bin Laden.
It
is one of the longest running shows in the world. Though the waters
are limited to circling the globe, the sky is the limit for experiencing
a fantasy.
WHAT
PEOPLE ARE SAYING?
“A
fascinating, personalized account of life onboard a cruise ship.
Cruising will NEVER be the same again.” Brooks Aehron, Internationally
Acclaimed Pianist, Great Britain
“This
book is an excellent resource for anyone interested on what goes
on beyond the signs that say, “Crew Only.” Ideal for
veteran cruisers like my self who have met many crew members and
have wondered what it would be like to work on a ship. A fascinating
travelogue of the author’s years working as a cruise director
aboard various lines, the destinations visited (with color pictures)
and people on board (celebrities and run-of-the-mill folk). Also,
how she met her husband, a captain for Celebrity Cruises (retired
as of summer 2005), and several pages written by him about his
experiences. The book is full of anecdotes, some of which are
rated “R”! All very interesting and unique…I
don’t know of any other ‘tell-all’ book like
it on this subject.” Mr. James B. Seeley
“Comparisons
prompt discussion. We, who have lived our lives at sea, have watched
the mystique of a cruise disappear and the safety of a vessel
take on sophistication. We have progressed from Mayflower to Megaship.
But the sea remains as landlady.” Mary McFadden, Author
and Editor
